SOUR AND SPICY BLACK CHICKPEAS

Pakistan is the third top Chickpea producing country. Chickpea is rich in proteins which has excellent digestibility in humans. It provides high amount of amino acids to the body, besides this also contains carbohydrates most of its composition is in the form of starch. Cooking does not hinder with the protein availability. Its consumption in diet is considered as healthy and is high in nutrition. It contains lipids in very low quantities in the unsaturated form which is mostly removed by soaking for overnight and washing them. It is best to be added in diet especially in craving, in order to live healthy and fit.

INGREDIENTS
Black chickpeas 1 cup
Potato 1 small
Ginger and garlic paste 1 teaspoon
Salt 1/2 teaspoon
Red chili powder 1 teaspoon
Chaat masala 1 teaspoon
Bullet green chilies 2 large
Green chilies 2
White cumin 1 teaspoon
Oil 1/4 cup
Onion 1 small
Tamarind 1/2 cup
Coriander leaves 2 tablespoons
Curry leaves 12-15

METHOD
·         Soak the black chickpeas overnight in water, add in it baking soda 1/4 teaspoon
·         Wash them and boil them until they are soft and easy to break means they are ready.
·         Cut potatoes in cubes and also boil them until perfectly cooked.
·         Cut bullet green chilies as well as small green chilies into smaller pieces, also cut the coriander leaves.
·         Also chop onion to fine pieces.
·         When black chickpeas and potato is ready, take oil in another pan, heat it and add in white cumin, ginger and garlic paste as well as curry leaves, cook for about 5 minutes.
·         Add in it the peas, tamarind extract, red chili powder, chaat masala, boiled potatoes and salt, cook for 3 minutes.

·         Transfer to the bowl, garnish with green chilies, coriander leaves and onions, serve hot.
